What’s the vibe?
Casual, warm, and reverent. We dress casually, we sing contemporary worship songs (with an occasional hymn), we pray privately and aloud together, we sometimes read a creed (a statement of faith from the ancient church), we take Communion together (Communion FAQ), and we treat one another with love and respect. We take the Bible seriously and ourselves less seriously. Our style is not highly polished or produced and we laugh off little mistakes, practicing the grace we preach. All are welcome, all are loved, and all are called to follow Jesus together.
What is Communion?
During every Sunday service, we take Communion together. Communion is the act of eating bread and drinking wine or juice in remembrance of Jesus’ death. At Hillside, because of our long standing relationship with AA and NA groups, we only use juice out of respect for our sober neighbors and members. Communion is open to all followers of Jesus regardless of background. For those still exploring faith who haven’t made a commitment to Jesus, we invite you to observe and contemplate or pray.
What should I wear?
Most people dress casually. Wear what is comfortable for you.
Where do I park and where do I enter?
We have a large accessible lot with designated parking for visitors. Entering from Hampden, turn right at the fork in the driveway, then take the next right into the visitor lot. From there, follow the large sign to the main entrance. On the way in, you’ll be greeted, handed a bulletin with some announcements and a place for sermon notes, and directed to the building entrance. When you enter the sanctuary, there is coffee and refreshments at the back as well as friendly people who will want to get to know you. Once you’re seated, you will find an info card on the back of the seat in front of you to fill out if you want more information or have specific prayer requests.
I identify as _________. Will I be welcome?
Yes. No matter how you fill that blank, all are welcome at Hillside. The love of God knows no limits, and calls everyone, regardless of background or identity, to follow Jesus. The church should be the safest place in the world for us to gather and worship and grow in our devotion to Jesus.
What about my kids?
We love kids and we are excited to meet your family! When you arrive at Hillside Church, head to the Family Check-in station at the back of the sanctuary, where we will greet your family and ask for some basic contact information. We recommend arriving 15 minutes prior to the start of service to give you plenty of time to register.
Next Steps
We divide kids into two age groups: toddler - age 5 and 1st grade - 5th grade. Kids begin in the service with everyone else, then are dismissed just before the greeting time. You will receive a pager for your child which will be buzzed if we need to reach you during the service. You will return the pager when you pick up your child/children after the service.
For more information visit the Hillside Kids page.
What do you believe?

What are the sermons like?
The best way to find out is to preview one of our Sunday messages.
Our preaching is formed by three convictions:
We take the Bible seriously as God’s Word, and believe it has meaning for all people in all places at all times, so every sermon is grounded in Scripture.
We believe that God’s fundamental posture toward people is love, and it’s God’s love that transforms people, not our performance, so we major on God’s love and grace.
We believe that the Good News about Jesus calls and equips us to love God and love others as God loves them, so we try to help people apply God’s Word to their lives in practical ways.
